How the car donation process works
Donate your vehicle through Drive Forward Jax
Start by telling Drive Forward Jax about the car, truck, van, SUV, or other eligible vehicle you want to donate in the Jacksonville Metro. You do not need to be an expert on vehicle values or charity paperwork. The goal is to turn an unused or unwanted vehicle into mission funding for Heritage for the Blind, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 58-2164446. Whether your vehicle is parked near Downtown Jacksonville, Southside, Westside, Beaches, or St. Johns County, the donation process is designed to be clear, respectful, and convenient.
Schedule free pickup in the Jacksonville Metro
After your donation is submitted, a towing partner will help arrange a free pickup at a time and location that works for you. Pickup may be available from a home, workplace, repair shop, apartment community, or other accessible location in and around Jacksonville. Donors often appreciate that they do not have to pay for towing, drive the vehicle anywhere, or manage a private sale. Drive Forward Jax helps move the process forward so your vehicle can be sold and the proceeds can support Heritage for the Blind services.
Your vehicle is sold to create charitable proceeds
Once picked up, the vehicle is processed for sale through the appropriate resale channel. The amount generated depends on the vehicle, its condition, current market demand, and other sale factors, so Drive Forward Jax will not promise a specific dollar outcome. What donors can know is this: 100-percent of vehicle proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind. Those proceeds help fund mission services for blind and visually impaired Americans, transforming a car you no longer need into support that can make the next step easier for someone else.
Proceeds help fund blindness and low-vision services
Heritage for the Blind uses vehicle proceeds to support services for people who are blind or visually impaired, including help connecting individuals with government benefit programs. These may include SSI or SSDI, LIHEAP, Section 8, Medicare Extra Help, Medicaid, and other forms of assistance that can affect stability, healthcare access, housing, and daily living needs. Donors who want to understand eligibility for assistance programs can visit nhftb.org/finder. Your Jacksonville car donation helps Heritage for the Blind, EIN 58-2164446, continue this mission-focused work.
Receive tax documentation for your donation
Because Heritage for the Blind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 58-2164446, eligible donations may be tax deductible for donors who itemize deductions. If your donated vehicle sells for more than $500, your deduction is generally based on the gross vehicle sale price, and IRS Form 1098-C is used for documentation. Keep your receipt and consult a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your return. Drive Forward Jax helps donors understand the basic paperwork so the giving process feels straightforward from pickup to receipt.
